Help Center Upgrade

Upgrade

(Note: This guide is for major upgrades between different versions, e.g., from SRO2018 to SRO2024, and not for minor updates within the same version.)

Upgrade from SRO2018 to SRO2024:

  1. Check Requirements. (Please refer to: Helpcenter: Requirements)
  2. Close Smart Report Organizer Windows Application.
  3. Stop Smart Report Organizer Windows Service if Running. (Please refer to: Helpcenter: Windows Service Settings)
  4. Backup Database: Helpcenter: Backup Database (Important: Perform this step before starting the upgrade to prevent data loss.)
  5. Purchase Annual License: Webshop
  6. Download SRO2024: Download Page (Please refer to: Helpcenter: 32-BIT or 64-BIT Decision)
  7. Run setup.exe (This will install the new version over the existing installation.)

Upgrade from SRO2023 to SRO2024:

  1. Check Requirements. (Please refer to: Helpcenter: Requirements)
  2. Close Smart Report Organizer Windows Application.
  3. Stop Smart Report Organizer Windows Service if Running. (Please refer to: Helpcenter: Windows Service Settings)
  4. Backup Database: Helpcenter: Backup Database (Important: Perform this step before starting the upgrade to prevent data loss.)
  5. Uninstall old versions of SRO: Windows/Control Panel/Program and Features/Smart Report Organizer/Uninstall
  6. Download SRO2024: Download Page (Please refer to: Helpcenter: 32-BIT or 64-BIT Decision)
  7. Run setup.exe (This will install the new version over the existing installation.)
  8. Copy your previously backed up database files into the new installation folder. For example:
    • Old installation folders:
      • For 32-BIT: C:\Program Files (x86)\DataZimmermann\Smart Report Organizer\
      • For 64-BIT: C:\Program Files\DataZimmermann\Smart Report Organizer\
    • New installation folder:
      • For 32-BIT: C:\Program Files (x86)\DataZimmermann\Smart Report Organizer (32-BIT)\
      • For 64-BIT: C:\Program Files\DataZimmermann\Smart Report Organizer (64-BIT)\
  9. Delete the old installation folders that are no longer required.
