Check Reports with Crystal Reports
The basic requirement for automating a report with Smart Report Organizer is that the report can be opened and executed with Crystal Reports. It is Therefore recommended to install Crystal Reports on the same computer where Smart Report Organizer is installed.
This allows the report (.rpt) to be run and tested with Crystal Reports. This is the only way to determine, for example, whether certain ODBC settings, drivers are missing or the report itself triggers an error message.
Example:
In this example, we are using a Crystal Reports report that requires a MySQL ODBC driver.
However, the ODBC driver itself is not yet installed on the computer and still needs to be installed.
- Open the report using Crystal Reports on the same computer where you installed SRO.
- Make sure you actually try to run the report using Refresh Report Data (F5).
- If the report won't run, this will help you determine that, for example, ODBC drivers are missing.
- Install the missing ODBC drivers and make sure the ODBC settings are configured on the computer and try running the report again.
Hints:
Please note that a report may require 32-bit or 64-bit ODBC drivers.
Open 32-bit ODBC Settings: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
Open 64-bit ODBC Settings: C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe
Example:
In the following example, we will first install and configure the 32-bit version of MySQL ODBC, and then the 64-bit version.
SRO 2026 (32-bit) typically requires 32-bit ODBC drivers.
SRO 2026 (64-bit) typically requires 64-bit ODBC drivers.
