Backup Database:

Important: You are solely responsible for maintaining regular and complete database backups to protect against data loss (e.g., hardware failure, system errors, or other unforeseen issues). In addition, you must ensure that a current and valid backup exists before performing any installation, update, or upgrade. Failure to do so may result in irreversible data loss.

  • Close Smart Report Organizer if it is currently running.
  • Stop all Smart Report Organizer Windows services if they are running:
    Open Windows Services Manager
    Stop Smart Report Organizer Service
  • Now you have to find out where your two currently used database files 'Db.mdf' and 'Db_log.ldf' are located.
    The exact path for this depends on the installed version or which path you specified during installation. Examples:
    • 'C:\Program Files (x86)\DataZimmermann\Smart Report Organizer'
    • 'C:\Program Files (x86)\DataZimmermann\Smart Report Organizer (32-BIT)'
    • 'C:\Program Files\DataZimmermann\Smart Report Organizer'
    • 'C:\Program Files\DataZimmermann\Smart Report Organizer (64-BIT)'
  • Copy the two database files to a secure location.
  • Example for SRO2026 32-BIT
